When Will the Mobile Phone Game Market Rise to Expectations?
January 30th, 2008
Experts have been forecasting the tremendous expected success of the mobile phone game market for sometime now. Mobile phone network operators, handset manufacturers, game publishers and market analysts are one in saying that mobiles with bigger screens and faster processors combined with faster networks for downloading data would create a market that would dwarf that of the existing market held by home game consoles.
Mobile phone gaming needs to address some problems before it could succeed in doing so. The most evident stumbling blocks are the lack of standards and high-quality games plus the awkward controls. All is not lost however, since consumer research would show that there is really a lucrative market out there just waiting to be tapped by the right product.
When Findings Become Inventions
January 30th, 2008
All the world welcome new inventions for there could never be enough good inventions for mankind who is notorious for causing its own problems. Just how far some “scientists” would go to credit themselves with accomplishments provided by doctored or bogus findings, no one would really know. When scientific findings become inventions themselves, there must be something terribly wrong about the situation.
History would attest to the fact that even if such instances are rare in the science field, they do happen, not exempting even the most popular and renowned scientists. Spurious science reveals itself in many ways. The human brain finds it very difficult to duplicate the elements of randomness of scientific data. Image editing tools can root out signs of image tampering. It could be very hard to imagine what the effects of actual scientific misconduct could do.
Organizing Teleconferencing
January 29th, 2008
Setting up a teleconference would require first and foremost a person that would be in charge. It is this person’s responsibility to call each participant and establish the specific time for the teleconference. This will be the same person that will make the necessary calls to assemble the group and produce an agenda based on issues brought up by each participant.
It is quite necessary that materials to be used in the teleconference are provided in advance. The success and effectiveness of this exercise requires adequate information and appropriate technical set-up. Technical links needs to be established with sites and constituencies properly identified. It should be kept in mind that a large number of people may be difficult to manage in a single teleconference thus the need for equipments and systems that would come up to the challenge.
The Weakest Link
January 27th, 2008
In the fight against online fraud and anomalies, fraudsters still manage to do their thing in spite of better security technology. Experts believe that consumers remain the weakest link among the various entities working together to fight fraud. This has something to do with the failure to adopt security as a habit and not just something to talk about or even complain about.
Conscious efforts to ensure security of one’s system would include regular updating of anti-virus and anti-spyware and checking if it works as well as educating the entire family about risks and protection for online transactions. A reasonable amount of alertness and common sense would also come a long way in achieving online security.
Accessing Computers Remotely
January 27th, 2008
The ability to access files and information over the Internet has been proven to be beneficial whether at work or play. The technologies that enable this kind of access fall into two general categories: those that access files remotely and those that access and control desktops remotely. While file access essentially allows the user to access files from a remote location using the Internet, desktop access and control brings the entire desktop of a person’s home computer to the computer that is being used elsewhere.
The idea is to bring the entire working environment of a computer to another which is being used from another geographical location. This eliminates the need to synchronize files between laptops and desktops and allows the user to really work away from the home or office. However, computing experience tend to be slower since current technology still does not allow lag-free control over a remote connection.
The Use of Templates
January 26th, 2008
A template is a format for saving documents wherein the basic elements are to be used in future documents. It remains unaltered for further use and a copy of which appears for the user to work on once a template is opened such as a letterhead. It is especially useful when a few specific kinds of documents are needed for home use or personal business. Templates can be created as long as a program supports them. Short documents like letters, memos and agendas can be made as well as more complex documents such as reports and newsletters.
There are actually three options open in the use of templates. One can open and use an existing template as is, open and modify, or create one’s own template from scratch. New or downloaded templates can be arranged to build a comprehensive library to be used whenever the need arises. The use of templates is very ideal when a document is regularly produced using the same basic settings.
Beyond Financial Planning and Accounting
January 26th, 2008
A spreadsheet is basically a document for storing and calculating numerical data, thus it is typically used for financial planning and accounting purposes. It is a fact that spreadsheets have a lot of complex mathematical formulas built into it, but they have potentials beyond manipulating figures. They are excellent in calculating in different scenarios, but a lot of other tasks can be accomplished due to their great capability in structuring information.
The spreadsheet is based on the cell, which is a small rectangular section on the spreadsheet or database into which text or figures are entered. It is quite handy in math matters such as recalculation but it can also function as a way to hold lists and schedules of varied subjects.
The Evolution of Conferencing
January 25th, 2008
Conferencing is said to be the joining together of more than two telephone users in a single call. Once a call is established between two persons, one holds the conversation to call a third party and joins the three parties in one call at a press of a button. Its most prevalent application is in the business forum. The ability to have multiple parties meet while located in different parts of the world is highly desired due to the demands of the times.
Conferencing has evolved from simple teleconferencing to the more popular video conferencing where parties are able to engage in face-to-face conversations while talking with multiple parties. Video conferencing technology has capitalized largely on the powerful capabilities of computers and telecommunications networks.
