Send Me Discounts

March 16th, 2008

It’s no secret that the best prices on virtually any type of products are available online. The internet has always been a hub for great bargains and low priced items but the level of discount and the sophistication of the online market are maturing every day. The web started as a goldmine for bargain hunters due to the low cost of operation the online business model provided as opposed to brick and mortar stores which allowed online businesses to pass on the savings to their customers. But things didn’t stop with that. As the online market developed, sophisticated services such as shopping comparison sites appeared increasing competition and forcing online merchants to lower prices even more.

While prices on most sites have hit almost all time lows, there is still room for true bargain hunters to save even more on their shopping. The key is using special voucher codes (or coupon codes) such as those offered at sendmediscounts.co.uk. This little known secret is the key to tremendous savings which are exclusive to voucher code bearers. Services such as those offered by sendmediscounts.co.uk which aggregates voucher codes from numerous merchants and lists them by category, provides a true win-win situation for merchants and shoppers alike. Shoppers benefit from double savings by enjoying the extra saving these voucher codes offer in addition to any discounts and savings offered throughout the site. But merchants benefit from this deal too as it allows them to offer extended savings to loyal customers without having to publically lower their on-site price.

Training the Handlers

March 13th, 2008

Any benefit derived from DNA technology would not be of any use unless the professionals involved in the criminal justice system or the handlers are provided training and assistance with regards to the collection and use of the DNA evidence. This would more or less include the police officers, prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, forensic scientists, medical personnel, victim service providers, correction officers as well as the probation and parole officers.

Police officers should have the capability to collect evidence properly. Prosecutors and defense attorneys need to know how to introduce and use it successfully in court. Judges should know how to rule correctly on the evidence’s admissibility. Victim service providers and medical personnel likewise need to understand it to be more responsive to the victim’s needs.

Money is the Real Green

March 13th, 2008

One of the greatest trends that have engulfed the business community over the past decade has been connecting businesses with the community and embracing more ethical business approaches. Be it environmental friendliness or fair trade concerns, businesses are doing just about anything to appear more ethical. But at least in one case it looks like financial considerations overweighed the desire to offer a once trendy ethical business service. According to an article at earth.co.uk, a leading Mortgages website, many banks are backing down lately on green mortgages which only recently seemed to sweep the market. I guess being green has its virtues but when push comes to shove a bank has to focus on risk management and profitability and some things simply have to take second stage.

The fundamental infrastructure support needs to be in place before any accomplishment can be hoped to achieve in increasing the analysis capacity of public crime labs. The basic processes of DNA analysis consisting of extraction, quantization, amplification and analysis require equipments and materials for it to be conducted. The process in turn, needs an information management system that is designed to automate evidence handling and casework management. This system is expected to improve the integrity and speed of evidence handling procedures while ensuring proper chain of custody.

Automated systems such as robotic DNA extraction units streamline aspects of the DNA analysis procedure that can be labor and time-intensive. It also aims to limit human error and reduce contamination. Lastly, there must be appropriate evidence storage conditions that will ensure the availability of the evidence throughout the period of investigation and justice proceedings.

Online Storage

March 13th, 2008

My partner asked me the other day is I know how to set up remote access to his computer at home since he finds it difficult and confusing to synchronize all his files while working from multiple locations. While I do know how to set something like that up, I encouraged him to take a different approach which would much better suit his needs.

You see, what really bothered him (and many people these days) is the fact that in many occasions he works on the same files on different computers which forces him to constantly email himself these files or come up with other clumsy solutions. But the perfect solution for just this scenario has in fact been available for quite some time. What I recommended he do is sign up for an online storage service such as that of ibackup.com.

Using IBackup you actually don’t have to synchronize your files since you will always be working on the same file wherever you are. The reason for this is that you have the option of saving your work online much the way you would normally do on your own computers. You can easily drag and drop files from your hard disk to the online service since IBackup’s solution is actually set up as a virtual windows drive.

How Firewalls Operate

March 12th, 2008

There are three different procedures used simultaneously by firewalls to control data flow in a computer system. Firewalls can use a technique called Packet Filtering which evaluates small portions of data against a filter. This technique admits to the system, sections of data that are deemed acceptable while discarding others.

The Proxy Service Method lets the firewall serve as retriever between the Internet and the system where it actually obtains data from the Internet to send to the requesting system. The Stateful Inspection Approach provides that only integral parts of each segment of data are evaluated against a database of information instead of examining entire segments. Incoming information is admitted when there is satisfactory match with the attributes of the information contained within the system.

“Frame Worthy”

March 12th, 2008

Wooly Cloth Mini Scroll CardI was telling a friend of mine about a party invitation website I came across and before I could finish a sentence he began bashing the whole trend of online invitations and greeting cards as opposed to the charm and finesse of an old fashioned paper card. But he really misunderstood what I was talking about. You see, as it turns out, the internet now makes it possible to create physical-paper invitations of quality and charm never imagined before.

The site I was referring to, Majestic Invites, may be an online business but provides a service far from those tacky online e-vites. The site offers a huge variety of corporate invitations as well as the most stunning unique invitations for all types of events. I guess some people may take these kinds of invitations for granted but I must say I have never seen such original and sophisticated invitations. These go way beyond what you may be used to. You can get a picture of what I’m talking about with the picture on the right hand side. This is just one of the amazing invitation styles (in this case a Wooly Cloth Mini Scroll) that will really leave a mark and wow your guests. As the owners of the site state - a good invitation should be “frame worthy”. And believe me – these are.

The use of scientific methods for weather forecasting did not begin until the 19th century. Before the laws of physics came to be understood, good or bad weather was believed to be a reward or punishment bestowed by the gods. Scientific weather forecasting commenced sometime after the telegraph was invented and after an agreement was forged among several countries to exchange weather reports according to a prescribed plan. Advances in the field of forecasting were quite slow in coming.

Sometime in 1920, two Norwegian meteorologists produced the so-called frontal theory of lows. After which, a British mathematician proposed weather prediction through numerical process. However, the facilities needed to concretize his ideas did not yet exist during that time. The invention of the radiosonde and radar marked an advance in the field. With the introduction of computers, numerical forecasting became practicable.
