Computers as Better Travelers
January 18th, 2008
Laptops have become as powerful as desktop computers with the advantage in size and mobility. The improvements in battery capacity to increase longevity make laptops a truly portable device. Gone are the days when displays are tiny and unclear as razor sharp graphics have become basic features of this portable PC.
Using laptops on the road require some adjustments to maximize battery life. The hibernate and standby options make it possible to achieve this. Hibernation shuts down the computer but keeps a record of all the programs and documents that have been opened. Programs and data remain intact as full function is restored at the press of a key. On the other hand, the standby option is still the basic power-saving mode where the hard drive and monitor are shut down.
