Online Storage
March 13th, 2008
My partner asked me the other day is I know how to set up remote access to his computer at home since he finds it difficult and confusing to synchronize all his files while working from multiple locations. While I do know how to set something like that up, I encouraged him to take a different approach which would much better suit his needs.
You see, what really bothered him (and many people these days) is the fact that in many occasions he works on the same files on different computers which forces him to constantly email himself these files or come up with other clumsy solutions. But the perfect solution for just this scenario has in fact been available for quite some time. What I recommended he do is sign up for an online storage service such as that of ibackup.com.
Using IBackup you actually don’t have to synchronize your files since you will always be working on the same file wherever you are. The reason for this is that you have the option of saving your work online much the way you would normally do on your own computers. You can easily drag and drop files from your hard disk to the online service since IBackup’s solution is actually set up as a virtual windows drive.
